Where is the Student Senate office?
The Student Senate office is located on the third floor of the Commons directly across from the left-side Sodexho entrance. Office hours occur every day from 11:30AM to 12:30PM so make sure to stop in and say hi, give suggestions, or pass along commentary!

What are senate office hours?
All senators are required to have office hours at least once during each block in the Student Senate Office. These are every Tuesday-Friday during the block (except week four in which its only open till Wednesday).

What type of issues do I bring up with my class and hall rep?
Issues you can bring up with your Hall Rep are ones that involve any issues with your dorm that cannot be taken care of with your RA. Issues to discuss with your class rep are ones that involve the campus as a whole or any small part of the campus you would like to see changes in.

Who should I talk to if I am having issues with my representative not representing me?
If there are problems that people are seeing with representatives, the people you can talk to are the President of Student Senate or the Vice President.

Who should I talk to if I have problems with Senate?
If you have problems with Senate, the person that you should talk to is your representative and then your representative can bring it to the attention of the Senate to see i f they can get it changed.
Who should I talk to if I have suggestions as to how Senate can be more efficient, visible, etc. on campus?
If you have suggestions you could talk to your representative about them or you could come to Open Forum during the Senate meetings and talk about them.

How can I be involved with Senate if I am not a Senator?
There are a few ways that you can be a part of Senate: 1) Come to Open Forum during the Senate Meetings; 2) Join a committee, there are four standing committees – Organizations, Appropriations, Student Life, Academic Affairs; 3) Become a part of an Initiative. An Initiative is a unapproved Senate committee that discusses various aspects of Senate and how to make it better. An example of an initiative is the Communication and Transparency Initiative.

How does Senate interact with the student body, faculty and staff?
Senators attend various meetings with the faculty and staff and at these meetings discuss with them what has been discussed within student senate. Senators try and receive feedback with the students they are representing and talk about that in the meetings so they can be brought to the faculty and staff’s attention. The chairs of the committees and the President of the Student Senate attend various meetings such as the Faculty Academic Affairs and Faculty Student Life. Also representatives attend other meetings such as Environmental Stability and the Mt. Vernon City Council meetings.

Are there any organized senate events that the student body can attend?
All Senate events are open to the Student Body, including the committees and the General Assembly.

All questions concerning the Campus can be brought to the attention of the class representatives and they can bring it to Senate for them to be answered.
