The Committees of PAAC
Committees Are Important to PAAC
Each of these committees brings in an important sub-set of programming to the campus. PAAC's committee structure allows it to operate much more efficiently, spreading out the immense work of bringing entertainment to campus to several, talented individuals.
Executive Board
PAAC's executive board includes the chairs for the committees below and the following administrative members of PAAC:
- PAAC Chair: Ian Watt
- Secretary: Andrea Weed
- Business Manager: Priyanth Manjooran
- Historian: Nick Richards
- Marketing: Dan Haas
- Webmaster: Sean McKenna
Music/Bands
The Music/Bands committee is responsible for all of our popular musical events. Their duties include: talking to agents, booking bands, and booking solo artists for the Cornell Campus. They plan everything from start to finish, from contract to venue setup, to advertising. These events have recently included artists such as Naturally 7, Holiday, McKnley Place, Shevy Smith, and Oval Opus. We have also had artists such as Art Alexakis (from Everclear), Sir Mix Alot, Blessid Union of Souls, and Ari Hest. This year's Music Chairs are John Gantt and Sarah Dorado.
Comedy/Lectures
The Comedy/Lectures committee brings a variety of events to the Cornell campus, from standup comedy and improv to cool speakers. Events that fall into this category include comedy hits such as Dan Ahdoot, Pete Lee, Mary Mack, Kelly Taylor, and Mission Improvable, as well as fun lectures like Mitch (from Survivor), AIDS Speaker Steve Yurcik, and Nutrition speaker Deanna Latson. This year's Comedy/Lectures Chair is Sam Angell.
Novelty/Flipside
This is probably one of the most fun and creative committees on PAAC. They plan fun stress relievers and events and parties such as Casino Night, Bowling Night, Bingo Night, Bubble Wrap, free massages, and even the Ultimate Foam Dance Party. This year's Novelty/Flipside Chairs are Emma Jacobs and Star Simmons.
Off-Campus Arts
The Off-Campus Arts committee finds fun stuff for Cornell Students to do off campus. They arrange discounted tickets for events in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, or beyond. Past activities in this area have included discounted tickets to A Christmas Carol, Bright Eyes, and Cornell Night at the Symphony, Rough Rider Hockey tickets, and Cedar Rapids Kernel's Baseball tickets. This year's Off Campus Arts Chair is Brigid Rankowski.
Special Events
Special Events is responsible for planning events during New Student Orientation, and Homecoming. Past events have included Orientation Karaoke, Homecoming Fireworks, Pep Rally, & Homecoming Court, George Foreman Grill-Off, and Hypnotists. This year's Special Events Chairs are Tashia Pierce and Tara McConohy.
Tech
This job involves coordinating setup and operation of tech equipment at campus events, for both PAAC and other campus groups. This year's Tech Chair is Dorian Gehring.
Dark Purple
PAAC's late-night programming committee aims to bring events that blend active and passive elements to campus beyond PAAC's regular hours. Dark Purple past events have included Night Games, Price is Right Night, Playground Games, Family Feud, Karaoke Night, and Nerf Dart Gun Wars. This year's Dark Purple Chairs are Jeffrey Flug and Maeghan Anderson.
