The History of BACO

BACO was established in 1969, and will soon be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2009. It is the oldest group in Intercultural Life at Cornell College. Throughout its history, BACO has strived to educate, support, and improve life on Cornell's campus. Through these actions BACO strengthens its members mentally and culturally.

Our Mission

BACO seeks to promote awareness and support for African-Americans through its meetings, membership and activites. Open to all students, BACO was created to help provide avenues for change. The foremost goal of BACO is empowerment through community and support. In addition, BACO encourages awareness of African and African-American issues. Awareness is achieved through programs and projects initiated by BACO for the campus and outlying areas. Through these general objectives, BACO strives to heighten awareness of African Americans socially, culturally and academically.
